The Finnish family business, Diter Oy (formerly Diter-Elektroniikka Oy) was founded in Turku in 1976. The name Diter comes from the words DIagnostics and ThERapy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We design and manufacture various treatment devices for the needs of physiotherapy and beauty care. We are a Finnish equipment manufacturer in the field and we market our products both in Finland and abroad.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

Diter Oy started when its founder Reima Karsikas' promising career as a runner was cut short by a serious knee injury in 1973. A fall from full running speed led to complete paralysis of the peroneal nerve. In order to maintain his ability to walk and stimulate the paralyzed muscle group, he developed a stimulator and, to the amazement of doctors, rehabilitated himself.<\/p>\n

Diter's first product was a device for the diagnosis and therapy of this condition. It was introduced to the market in 1977. Over the last forty years, more than 40 different treatment devices have been designed and developed at Diter.<\/p>\n

Diter devices are known for their durability and quality. This is evidenced by the fact that most of the devices manufactured during the entire company's life time are still in active use in treatment facilities and hospitals around the world.<\/p>\n

Productive Idea award<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1988, the Chamber of Commerce awarded Diter the Turku Productive Idea award for being the first company to develop an ultrasound treatment head that works at three different frequencies.<\/p>\n

Entrepreneur of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1989, Diter Oy received the Entrepreneur of the Year award in recognition of meritorious and results-producing entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

\nIn 2006, Reima Karsikas received the Kauneusala Yritt\u00e4jien Freya award for his life's work for the industry.<\/p>\n
